Enjoy clearer skin and greater confidence thanks to the advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) acne treatment now available at our Bristol clinic.
With IPL, the light emitted from the system directly targets the over-active sebaceous glands that cause acne. This significantly reduces the number and the severity of active lesions, calms inflammation, and results in fewer break-outs. And since this skin treatment requires no downtime, it is perfect for people with hectic lifestyles. The results of IPL acne treatment can be dramatically enhanced when it is combined with microdermabrasion treatments. At Victoria's Health and Beauty we now offer a range of treatment packages for clients who would like to undergo both treatments at the same time in order to achieve optimal results.
Why choose us for IPL acne treatment in Bristol?
Our skilled practitioners all have Luminate Advanced Certification and at least 12 months' experience in using our powerful Lynton IPL system, so you can be confident that they know how to achieve the best results from our leading-edge technology. During the initial consultation you will have the opportunity to discuss your acne concerns with your practitioner, who will carry out a patch test and recommend a suitable treatment package to suit your needs.
How does IPL acne treatment work?
IPL systems release precisely-controlled short pulses of filtered light that destroy the bacteria in the skin known to cause Acne. The light will safely penetrate the skin and help to heat up overactive sebaceous glands reducing sebum output. Also the gentle heating of the skin will promote fibroblast activity and stimulate collagen production which may reduce mild acne scarring.
Will IPL acne treatment work for me?
Most skin is suitable for treatment, except for very dark or tanned skin. IPL is also not recommended if you are pregnant or taking Roaccutane (acne medication).
What does the treatment process involve?
First we will cleanse the treatment area and apply a layer of chilled gel to your skin. You will be given goggles to protect your eyes from the light, and then we will place the light guide onto your skin and release a short pulse of light. This is repeated until we have covered the entire treatment area. We then remove the gel, and cool and moisturise your skin. A typical treatment session will take about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on whether or not you decide to have a microdermabrasion treatment beforehand.
Is the treatment painful?
You may find the treatment mildly uncomfortable, with a sensation similar to the flick of an elastic band, but you will not need any anaesthesia.
What should I expect after treatment?
Your skin may appear red and you may feel a warm, tingly sensation straight after the treatment, although this usually disappears within a couple of hours.
How many treatments will I need?
Clients are typically advised to have six IPL sessions along with six microdermabrasion sessions in order to see significant results – although the number of treatments required varies from one individual to the next .
